"The Simple Touch of Fate"

Here is a book I highly recommend to you: The Simple Touch of Fate: How the Hand of Fate Touched Our Lives Forever, edited by Arlene Uslander and Brenda Warneka. It is an anthology of true inspirational stories written by people from all over the world, telling about their personal brushes with Fate. Fate is present in our lives in different ways, most of the time unknown to us. If some people have their fate written on their foreheads (figuratively) all of the others are (as we all are) subjected to fate in subtle ways. The authors thoroughly checked every story, additionally interviewing most of the subjects, and went deeply back in time in order to find that element, that important element or fact, that was responsible for changing someone's life in a significant way, and they succeeded. These elements do exist in our lives whether or not we are aware of them. It is the power of Arlene and Brenda's book that makes it a source of meditation and a wonderful read. Today I wrote to a few people and in my letters I said, "How can I tell my brother and my sister, who love me so much, that I am not going to get well? I have to get well!"

When you go to the hospital and see what technology can do today (see through you!) you might think that you are close to God and God's work, and you definitely are. So many things can be done today and there still exist incertitude.

In my unpublished novel, A WALK ON FIFITH AVENUE, Professor Arzzuro, a brain surgeon, is poised to discover the mechanism of aging, which would make it possible for people to live two-three hundred years or more. In fact, who made us live about 70-80 years? Perhaps, God. Somehow, aging is regulated by different mechanisms; some cosmic, some of a different nature. For all the beings on earth, the information necessary to control these mechanisms is written somewhere in the genetic code. Professor Arzzuro believes that some regulatory centers are located in the brain, and, almost retired, he tries to decipher that mystery of life.
